Lola's Story

Again on one of my many trips to Petco, everyone was telling that I should get a friend for Zazu, so he would not be lonely.  Yep I am a sucker and did not do my research...So one morning at Petco I went into the bird room and liked this little white cockatiel.  So home came Lola.  Lola's story is a bit different...First by the name you would think that she is a female, WRONG, he is a male Lutino Cockatiel.  I tried for months to get him to step up on my finger, he didn't go for that idea, and with all the skin he was ripping off my fingers, I knew something wasn't right. 

When we went on vacation last July, a wonder woman watched Zazu and Lola.  When we got back, she told me that most likely Lola had been abused in his cage at Petco.  You know kids and some adults think that it is cute to poke at the animals, well now Lola is deathly afraid of hands, and there is nothing that we can do about it.  The more I learn about Petco and the birds it sells makes me very mad...If we or anyone else we know of wants to buy a bird we will go through an bird breeder...( I should know better than go to a pet shop to buy an animal,  I had worked at a kennel for many years.  I saw their dedication to responsible breeding of their animals, and not just breeding dogs to sell!)  Ok, back to Lola he is a sweet bird, just do not try and touch him.
