Are you looking for some activities for your
child/children? Here is a list of local activities or links.
Here is a list of local parks/playgrounds:
-
Butler Park: go east on Price Blvd; just past the Middle School
turn into parking lot for soccer fields; follow road back behind
ball fields and maintenance sheds; park has two play structures,
sand and picnic shelter (sometimes bathrooms are unlocked)
-
Dallas White Park: go east on Spring Haven Dr to Pan American;
turn left onto Appomattox; turn right onto North Port Blvd; turn
left onto Greenwood Ave; parking lot is first right (YMCA/Police
Dept parking lot) or you can park on shoulder heading in; park
has two play structures, sand, swings, picnic shelter and there
are bathrooms at the YMCA/NP Pool on the left as you go in
-
Blue Ridge Park: go east on Price Blvd; turn right onto Salford
Blvd; turn right onto Cuthbert Ave (turns into Ridgewood Dr);
park is on right; park has two play structures, sand, swings and
picnic shelter (no bathrooms)
-
Franz Ross Park (in Port Charlotte relatively near shopping):
going south on Route 41 turn left onto Toledo Blade (this is the
one after the mall - not the NP Toledo Blade); turn right onto
Quesada Ave; park in on right - first turn takes you into YMCA
parking lot, second turn-in takes you past ball fields, park is
towards back; park has two play structures, bark, picnic shelter
and LOTS of shade (there are bathrooms but I'm not sure if they
are kept unlocked)
For those moms that are new to playing in sandy playgrounds then
trying to get your kids clean before getting in the car: baby powder
makes the sand fall right off with the added benefit of making them
smell nice!
